This non-invasive treatment starts at the patient\u2019s wrist, a thin catheter is introduced into the diseased vein, then a pressurized saline solution is mixed with a blood clot-dissolving medication that is injected to soften and break apart the thrombi. The blood clot is then \u201cvacuumed\u201d from the veins and eliminated. In some cases, the thrombectomy can be supplemented by the placement of a stent in the vein to hold it open and re-establish proper blood flow.<\/p>\n
